Punta Tombo LOW COST

Punta Tombo is the largest colony of Magellanic penguins in South America. Every year, the penguins come here to nest, feed, mate, have their babies and moult, before embarking on their journey back to the north-east of South America in search of food. It's a true natural spectacle!

This experience invites you to enjoy incredible moments with the penguins in their habitat, while you walk along paths that run through the area. Along the walk, you will see penguins crossing by your side, and you will also be able to appreciate the local flora and different birds that live here. You may also encounter animals such as guanacos, piches, maras, choiques and foxes.

Punta Tombo is a 3.5 km long and 600 m wide rocky strip that juts out into the sea. The beaches have a gentle slope, allowing penguins to build their nests with ease.

Upon arrival, you pay the entrance fee to access the Interpretation Centre, where you will learn about the local fauna and the importance of caring for this incredible natural environment. Afterwards, we begin our walk along trails of about 1.5 to 2 km.

During the tour, depending on the time of year, you can see the penguins digging their nests, fighting over territory, looking for food or caring for their chicks. You will also hear their "braying", which is the sound they make to defend their space or call their partner. In addition, the place is home to other birds such as seagulls, cormorants and skuas, which also nest here.

Punta Tombo Low Cost offers you the possibility of visiting the penguin colony in a more economical way. However, be careful! This excursion can be just a round trip to PUNTA TOMBO or it can also be combined with other options, such as Isla Escondida, Rawson or even the city of Gaiman. It all depends on how many passengers there are on each excursion, as they are not always available.

In case we need to combine the excursion, we will inform you the day before about the schedule and which option it will be carried out with. If there are optional excursions available, we will let you know in advance so that you can find out about them in advance and even make a reservation in advance if you wish.
Not everything is bad! When you make the purchase, you can tell us which is your preferred option, and we do not guarantee it, but we will give it priority to try to adjust to your choice.
