This proposal offers the opportunity to combine two notable tourist attractions that offer activities related to the development of paleontology and astronomy, encompassing historical, geographical, and natural (flora, fauna) processes that are so enriching and characteristic of the area.
The excursion begins from the city of Puerto Madryn heading south, taking Provincial Route Nº3 until reaching the city of Trelew. Before, about 65 km we will make the first stop to be surprised by the dinosaur Patagotitan Mayorum. Right there we will see in real size, one of the largest terrestrial specimens in the history of planet Earth so far. Scientists state that this species was 40 meters long, its neck was 12 meters and it weighed between 70 and 80 tons.
Then we moved towards Trelew, until we reached the Egidio Feruglio Paleontological Museum (MEF), (admission not included)This museum houses a heritage of large and important dinosaur specimens found in the local territory. It is also a unique scientific activity center in South America, featuring a modern and unconventional design, reflecting a range of paleontological exhibits. Its interpretive tours tell the story of the different life forms (animals, plants, indigenous peoples) that were found and currently live in Patagonia. Among other attractions, the museum exhibits dinosaur skeletons of different species, murals painted by set designers that depict the exhibits in their era, and a variety of fossil samples classified according to different periods (time, era, age, and family genus), showcasing life from prehistoric times to the present day. Also, from the scientific activity center, you can see large windows that allow you to "spy" on the work of scientists as they clean, restore, and classify the fossil specimens. *This excursion includes time to venture into the wonderful MEF museum.
After completing the tour of the MEF, we continued with the next tourist attraction, the Trelew Astronomical Center (admission not included), Located in the area of the Laguna Chiquichano Municipal Nature Reserve, its main objective is to bring knowledge of astronomy, the importance of sky observation, and its preservation to the general public. This center is the southernmost in the world, and its significant status is determined by its outstanding recreational spaces: the central hall, an outdoor theme park, an auditorium, a planetarium, and two observatory rooms. *This excursion includes time to explore the fantastic Astronomical Center.
*Outdoor Theme Park: It has different outdoor seasons in reference to physical and astronomical phenomena that occur in the universe (gravity, planets, eclipses, equinoxes, solstices and constellations, among others).
*The Planetarium: Its auditorium has a capacity for 50 people, a 7.5-meter geodesic dome, and a Full Dome HD projection system. Various scientific and cosmological projections about the Patagonian skies can be seen there, such as the projection "The Sky of the Indigenous Peoples, Our Sky."
*Observatory Rooms: Night and solar system for a cosmic walk through the history of the Solar System and Planet Earth. The main hall features a 12-inch high-focal, high-transmission telescope and a rotating dome measuring 2.5 m in diameter.
The times and order of the places to visit may vary, depending on the season, the weather and the interests of the group.
