We start early in the morning from Puerto Madryn and in small groups, moving towards Estancia “El Pedral” (70km approx.). This tourist attraction invites us to experience authentic Patagonia through its natural landscapes, observations of marine and terrestrial animals, as well as the perceptions and construction of life of the first settlers of the area.
Visit to the Punta Ninfas Lighthouse
Just 15 minutes from the ranch, on top of the cliff at the southern end of the mouth of the Golfo Nuevo, is the Punta Ninfas lighthouse. A valuable reference for sailors entering the Golfo Nuevo, it also fulfills its faithful task of watching over the arrival of the first whales to the gulf each year, on the cold days of May. The view from the cliff of the Punta Ninfas lighthouse will make you feel privileged, part of a different, magical and incredible landscape.
Guided walk among Magellanic penguins
Every year in September, a growing colony of friendly Magellanic penguins settles in El Pedral. A guided walk among their nests will allow you to get to know these curious animals better. El Pedral maintains a beach control and cleaning scheme, also collaborating with the GPS foundation (Global Penguin Society), which monitors the Magellanic penguin colony of Punta Ninfas.
Patagonian lunch with drinks and house wine
From early on, while we take you to see the reserve, Humberto "our head griller" with the help of his assistants, will prepare a Patagonian lamb that is difficult to forget. Homemade empanadas, a variety of salads, house red wine and fruit salad are also part of the menu.
Tea time
After lunch, while the children have fun in the pool, on the farm or on the soccer field, you can enjoy the warmth of our house, with a delicious tea or coffee accompanied by a typical Welsh cake. The way back to Puerto Madryn will give you just the right time for a siesta.
Visit to the old part of the Estancia
Authentic Patagonian ranch house, the house of El Pedral is a museum in itself. It is as attractive for its history as for its particular design. Built at the beginning of the 20th century, the materials and furniture were brought from Europe by ship and landed on the shores of the ranch itself. Inaugurated in 1923, the house preserves the aesthetics and style of those times in its warm rooms. The walls with portraits and images of yesteryear transport us to the past, evoking a glorious era of intrepid entrepreneurs, undisputed pioneers of the development of the Valdés Peninsula.
The times and order of the places to visit may vary, depending on the season, the weather and the interests of the group.
