This city tour through the city of Puerto Madryn and its surroundings, proposes a tour of different historical, architectural and cultural and natural heritage points.
We begin by searching for the passengers at their accommodations and then moving north, passing by “Chalet Pujol”, current Provincial Oceanographic and Natural Sciences Museum, which has exhibits on local history, the flora and fauna of the region, as well as , elements of geology, Welsh history, anthropology and oceanographic material provided by the Argentine Navy. Then, we moved to the Industrial and Fishing Park where the ALUAR Aluminum Plant and the “Almirante Storni” Dock are located. We continue to visit the Monument to Welsh Women, built to mark the centenary of the founding of our city; Then we headed towards the central part of the city, passing through Plaza Gral. San Martín, communal and emblematic buildings with ancient architecture (House of the railway manager, Toshke House, old Bus Terminal, among others). Heading south we head towards the residential coastal area and Punta Cuevas area: a historical site where there are ruins from the first Welsh landing in the city. These historically recognized caves date back to 1865 and are considered the first homes in Puerto Madryn and some of the oldest in Patagonia. There is also the interpretive center where objects from the Welsh settlers are exhibited, as well as the history of two pioneer cultures: Native – Welsh.
A few meters away we reach the viewpoint where the Tehuelche Indian monument is located, where we can enjoy a wide panoramic view of the city and its beaches. We can also appreciate the Ecocentro Pampa Azul museum: a scientific and cultural space dedicated to promoting and disseminating knowledge and protection of the sea in conjunction with different species of marine and terrestrial animals.
