The Punta Tombo Protected Natural Area is the largest Magellanic penguin colony in South America. Every year, the penguins come here to nest, feed, mate, have their young, and molt, before embarking on their return journey to northeastern South America in search of food. It's a true natural spectacle!
This experience invites you to enjoy incredible moments with the penguins in their habitat, while you walk along paths that run through the area. Along the walk, you will see penguins crossing by your side, and you will also be able to appreciate the local flora and different birds that live here. You may also encounter animals such as guanacos, piches, maras, choiques and foxes.
Punta Tombo is a 3.5 km long and 600 m wide rocky strip that juts out into the sea. The beaches have a gentle slope, allowing penguins to build their nests with ease.
Upon arrival, you pay the entrance fee to access the Interpretation Centre, where you will learn about the local fauna and the importance of caring for this incredible natural environment. Afterwards, we begin our walk along trails of about 1.5 to 2 km.
During the tour, depending on the time of year, you can see the penguins digging their nests, fighting over territory, looking for food or caring for their chicks. You will also hear their "braying", which is the sound they make to defend their space or call their partner. In addition, the place is home to other birds such as seagulls, cormorants and skuas, which also nest here.
Punta Tombo Low Cost offers you the opportunity to visit the penguin colony more affordably. However, please note! This excursion can be a one-way trip to Punta Tombo or can be combined with other options, such as Isla Escondida, Rawson, or even Gaiman. It all depends on the number of passengers on each excursion, as these are not always available.
If we need to combine the excursion, we will inform you the day before about the schedule and which option it will be offered. If optional excursions are available, we will let you know in advance so you can learn about them and even pre-book if you wish.
When you make your purchase, you can tell us which option you prefer. However, it's not guaranteed, but we'll prioritize it to try to accommodate your choice.

- Admission to the Protected Natural Area, lunch, and optional activities are not included.
- The company may change the date of the excursion if it considers that the conditions are not suitable.
